Only picked upwards a set of Bilstein shocks and going to put them in this weekend, but need to know the size of the upper and lower bolts? Also not sure well-nigh the size of the smaller nut on the top of the front shocks. I'grand bold I'll need a long socket for that ane. Its for a 2003 4x4 silverado

I'g soaking them with some Lead Blaster now in hopes they come off easy.

MWRIGHT1 that'due south scarey !! I merely got my Bilstein shocks today for my 2003 4x4 silverado too and was planing on putting them on until this snow started here in NC !! I got mine from a place in TN that had a website and you can call also. It'southward called Top Gun Customz. I got the 5100 series which are the silver with blackness boot for $268 plus $19 shipping. I turned up my torsion bars on the forepart so I needed the ones for the 2" lift. What style did y'all get? I am waiting to see how my ride improves. Current ones are shot. Andy

Wow, that is freaky...I got the stock replacements. Got them from eshocks, on-line for $255 with free shipping. Honestly they are ugly looking, yellow with blue boot, simply didn't really accept a choice. Hopeing to get them on this weekend. My stock ones are shot also, just have 55K miles. Promise to discover some improvement. Still trying to figure out the bolt size to become them off, look like 22 or 23 MM but not sure.

I alive in an area where they salt the roads 6months of the twelvemonth and have only had a few out of many that I had to cutting off due to corrosion.

The upper stupor nut is 15mm, I use a gear wrench but a normal ane volition work, you also demand an 8mm to hold the shaft from spinning, or a large pair of pliers. lower bolt is 21mm or 18mm, same with the nut.

Rears are 21mm elevation and lesser.

Front shock lower bolt is 18mm on 1500's, 21mm on 2500/3500'southward if I remember correct.

But put mine on this morning as well. Went pretty easy.. Soaked the bolts overnight they all came off adequately piece of cake... New ones went correct on. Just noticed a niggling difference so far.

Rears and lesser front bolts were 21 mm. Front top is 15mm for the stock shocks, and 17 mm for bilstein replacements.

I was able to put an open up end wrench on the welded nut that is on summit of the front end stupor just below the frame mount. Then I put a deepwell touch on socket on from the top and got them correct out. Andy

I ordered KYB shocks for my '03 Z-71 four days agone. Only rotated the tires and decided I needed shocks. After cleaning up the hubs and rims I sprayed all of the shock bolts with GIBBS penetrant. I volition spray them again before
attempting the change later on reading this topic.
Thanks!

I sprayed all mine the solar day before and didn't accept whatsoever issues getting them off. I used a pair of vice grips to concur the forepart ones with a deep socket to become the nut off that worked pretty well.
